Never understood why people throw Ryuko in with edgy characters. Do they just look at her outfit and automatically assume she is?
If any grimdark image can qualify for the edgy tag, then the tag is redundant. It’s only useful on images where the word is specifically mentioned, such as this one.
That is why I removed the tag from several hundred images which did not invoke it.
I was generalizing, okay? It’s possible to be edgy without being grimdark.
…so it’s the same thing. Fallout Equestria is about as edgy as it can get but it doesn’t have angsty teens with katanas.
Grimdark is blood ‘n’ guts ‘n’ gore.
Edgy is black and red alicorn OCs with “night” in their names, and dual-katana-wielding angsty teens saving Equestria.
Overlap happens pretty frequently, but they’re not the same thing.
