Description

This has sorta been done before, but it’s something I was thinking about a long time ago –

The year is 1985 A.C. In an alternate Equestria where masked super-ponies are a reality, President Filthy Rich Neighin has been elected to a fifth term, and the United Celestian States of Equestria are on the verge of a magical holocaust with the Union of Lunar Republics. The citizens of Manehattan go about their lives in a shattered society, under the constant shadow of Mutually Assured Harmony. Two “heroes” from the former Yearlings, only one of whom has any real powers, are allowed to operate by the unicorn government. Masked vigilante Pollock, one of the few remaining active, embarks on a quest to unravel a plot that could have world-ending consequences.

@TexasUberAlles Thanks Texas. Well I guess I’ll never know why ponies didn’t like this, grin. A friend of mine said it was because it lacked context that might suggest meaning or intent (aside from being another Watchmen parody which he felt had been overdone) but of course if I were to do a little comic in the “style” of a comic, in order to provide context for a single panel, then even if it was good art-wise, it might be too derivative of the classic source to be an improvement on simply allusions to ponified movie posters and such. I suspect a lot of comics crossover have the same problem since in order to “work” you basically have to recreate the comic.

Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Nope. I don’t know of any but creating panels and such seems easy enough if you can find the balance between blandness and clutter. And hell yes, Watchmen is an unjustly, under appreciated masterpiece.
Ponyweed

@Mailbox_Bomber Do you know of any “comic creator” software? for laying out panels / decent comic font lettering where you can do the panel layout and draw in each panel, or import your sketches into each panel, that sort of thing. I know they exist but I have no idea what the good ones people use. I should probably ask someone who actually does pony comics, lol.

Oh yeah. Highly appropriate. Do you find it similar to the scepter variant? Because I might redraw it slightly to orient it on a button. I could just create button vectors too. They’ll all get downvoted because of blood, lol, even tho it’s cake frosting.

I don’t really care, people by and large tend to have their own narrow interests… I just find it odd that it’s downvoted without explanation. I have a “literary” fascination with Watchmen because I like all the philosophical concepts. I should encourage people to compete to keep the vote tally at zero. :P

Which one? I can probably do a variant. I think people objected to this because of the dissonance of pairing a Fluttershy face with Cupcakes-style Watchmen gore. But dissonance was the intent. :P Anyhow if Applejack is the Comedian, and Fluttershy is Silk Spectre, no immediate harm comes to Fluttershy here. She just has a nice and yellow smiley face which the Comedian likes to wear. :P And the combination is suitably disturbing for the source material without being too dark, lol. The downvotes do kind discourage me from the dream of drawing out all the panels of Fearful Symmetry as a rewritten pony comic, with all the matching panels, tho.
Ponyweed

Or maybe it’s because I tagged this safe and not semi-grimdark only. I wouldn’t call it full-on dark as I didn’t have the heart to go in the direction of blood… but the suggestion is there. I always thought the story worked better with cupcake frosting. Applejack is the Comedian BTW. (If I were to ever ponify any more panels)
