You know… I can live with that :)
That’s actually very possible, and I rather like it.

Yeah, I was thinking a while back that maybe the “Nightmare Forces” didn’t exist as a separate entity UNTIL Luna got blasted by the Elements.
I think that Nightmare Moon should have been a Part of Luna with no random Alien possesing her, but herself always having this dark Site inside her and they could have still used Nightmare Rarity (they didn’t even gave her a new Name)
But it’s mostly because I read a Fanfic with a much better Origin for the Nightmares
How does it ‘ruin’ Luna’s backstory? And ‘Damsel in Distress’ trope implies that the woman is captured simply to act as a reward for a male character. While Spike is important in the issue, Rarity is captured for reasons relating entirely to her.
Her mental weakness, her identity as a bearer of Harmony, her self doubt.
And, just to cut this one off, if you are going to say that Nightmare Moon (Luna) was 100% willing and that making a ‘Dark Force’ possess her (even though the story stated that Luna ALLOWED the dark force in, which means she is certainly not innocent in the whole mess), consider the alternative.
Luna willingly choose to act as Nightmare Moon, and the Elements of Harmony labotomized her into being good again. That’s so much better, right?

….I’m going to disagree with you on the Neigh Anything part. I rather enjoyed it. (And any issue starring Cadance is a win in my book. Honestly, she should have more comics…and episodes.)
Well, technically she’s only written two 4-parters…
My mistake. Wow, that means I have NEVER liked a Cook 4 part comic. Her two part Slice of Life stuff is OK, but her Four Part ‘EPIC’ storylines always seem to fall flat.

Uh, Katie didn’t write the Nightmare Rarity arc. That was Heather Nufher, who unfortunately either quit writing for the comics after the Bookworm arc {Which was her last one} or just hasn’t been assigned to any new issues {Or however the writing process works. I have no idea}.
That’s why I like Nightmarity. It still has its flaws, no argument there, but characterization is NOT one of them. All of the characters of the show stay pretty close to their determined personalities (RD is a bit more zany than usual, but that’s just Cook for you). Sure it’s a bit cliched, and the ending is rushed as well, but it seriously tries to tell a good story and to give us a better look into what, exactly, Nightmare Moon was.
And as much as people like to whine about THAT aspect, it’s still better than the ‘Elements of Lobotomy’ explanation.

Gonna be honest: I still liked Reflections more than the Chrysalis arc, Specially since Cook’s trend of making genre-savvy characters like Twilight going full retard started from the Chrysalis arc (what with her DITCHIN her friends and even go full pre-S1 Twi saying “Who needs friends?”, all over a trap SHE COULD HAVE BEEN.AWARE OF!), only for the sake of the plot moving.
At least with Reflections she wanted to make Celestia relatable and less “God-like” as the fandom puts Alicorns as, but just like the atrocious Neigh Anything proved, she isn’t any good at character development.
…we were just discussing that…
I honestly didn’t find it as bad as most people make it out to be. It’s definitely one of the weakest comic arcs; Celestia’s characterization is pretty bad and the resolution makes no sense, but it’s still amusing.
Well, I actually did enjoy it to start with, but then the second half wrecked it, or rather we never got to see the second half because they cut it off just as soon as the ball got rolling (and then had the audacity to rub it in with a two-page spread).
Also, I’m honestly feeling that I probably will enjoy Reflections despite what a lot of people say about it.
Personally, I’ve only seen bits and pieces of… most of the arcs, Micro Series, and Friends Forever stuff, but for most of them I’ve had them all completely spoiled for me, and while I’ll be reading them all eventually, I already have a pretty good idea as to which ones I’ll enjoy. One particular arc that I probably WON’T enjoy from what I’ve seen and read about is the Bookworm arc.
Yeah, Reflections was terrible, but even that wasn’t “Twilight going full retard” terrible.
Are you kidding? I’m surprised that it wasn’t Reflections.
Also I don’t remember any “wired” faces.
Me too. Just like I like both Sonic Cartoons. ;) (Which was the NC Review were this is original from, in case someone forgotten, or didn’t know. Fly away.)
