Not the first time, there’s an Earth Pony and Crystal Pony which only has the Earth Pony Icon. And an Earth Pony and Critter with the Critter Icon.
The icon is usually just the symbol of the most important trait, but it doesn’t stop them having the others.
Yeeah, Enterplay’s still learning the ropes of this whole CCG rule text thing and probably made some choices on the front side of their releases that they’re coming to regret :)
I would expect there to be errata to this effect, how the icons of old cards impact the language of newer ones.
Right, but there are a lot of cards whose text refers to Friend traits by their icons. Most of the time that’s not a problem, but if they’re going to make cards like this, they need to spell out somewhere what icons correspond to what names, to make it clear that (for example) Nightmare Moon, New Moon can be used to fetch this card. I admit it’s a bit nitpicky, so I’d only expect to see it in the Comprehensive Rules, not the regular rulebook.
Icon is only decoration. Trait name is everything. And judging by the other crystallized versions, “crystal” takes over for any other type, but that’s only decorative.
