Your first mistake was to presume that was a taunt. Your second one was to try to use grammar to bolster yourself, falling on the back-up strategy of the lost arguments (without even having an argument involved, to boot). Your third is to be so hilarious.
@Krucification
Having a biological basis isn’t all that relevant when all mental diseases do, in fact, have a biological basis for their effects. Even behavioral disorders and their ilk, that do not involve a specific defect in the brain but rather a bad conditioning or an overzealous reaction of a normal mechanism, there is plenty to explain and to jusitfy the diversity of delusions that afflict them. Doesn’t make them any more real, thought.
@AlsoSprachOdin
You can call them winged hussars. Which is to say, why should they care? I personally find that all the modern issues in society come from the presumption others must care because you care, and I can’t help but call that a load of bullshit.
God dammit. No, I was specifically speaking about otherkin. That’s why I wrote “if you’re referring to the dolphin/shark South Park joke”.
But I do think at least some people are transgender for equally silly reasons (if you can consider being mentally sick “silly”). Some of them, perhaps even the majority, might very well be trans because of chemical imbalances, but I doubt that’s the sole, or even main cause.
People are products both of their nature and their nurture - biology and culture - hardware and software. And a lot of men these days are starting to think that the dominant culture is quite hostile to them, because of their gender. A lot of guys these days are thinking to themselves that it must be pretty great to be a girl, that love wouldn’t be so hard to find if they were just female.
I don’t want to get into the argument of whether or not such thinking is true. Plenty has already been written and recorded. It shouldn’t be hard for you to find examples of such thinking as I’ve described. Let it (please) be enough said that I don’t think gender dysphoria has to be biological at all.
Also, is calling them “trannies offensive? Is there some other short word they can be called?
nice fluffy chest though
Equating being transgender to being otherkin and using it as a means to assert that being transgender is a simple matter of mental illness I find to be rather ignorant. There is actual biological basis behind those who identify as being transgender.
Those who identify as otherkin, on the other hand, have no basis in biology and are based upon religious or metaphysical beliefs, and is just downright silly, and asserting or believing otherwise is (in my opinion) indicative of a larger psychological issue. The two should not be lumped into the same category or even compared.
Yes it is sad there are those who rage against another group of people based on a faux religious principal or blindly attack others to feel good and special about themselves.Blindly believing those against them as completely wrong by their narrow view and never seeing past whatever reasons they found or formed to justify their beliefs.
It is also sad that for all the same reasons above people will defend a group of people.In the end people when either against or for a practice need to be more aware of the flaws and exceptions in their beliefs along with an understanding that the consequences of their actions will most likely not be what they expect.History has spoken enough for that.
Dude, if you’re referring to the dolphin/shark South Park joke, I’m not sure it’s not warranted. When people start actually barking at the sea, or tell everyone that they used to be a Japanese turtle in a previous life (and use that to justify biting their mothers), it’s no longer a matter of “finding one’s identity”, it’s just a symptom of severe mental unhealthiness.
Besides, you don’t find your identity, you build it.
I gain extra HP from being laughed at by people with atrocious grammar/spelling/editing skills, so you might want to save your taunts for opponents who are vulnerable to that sort of thing.
Thank you, Texas, you just refilled my irony bottle, and my sides got enough power to return back to their recognisances fly-bys. Always nice to have you around to laugh at.
This whole post is a bad joke.
I think you might be missing the joke about the joke about the joke.
First I belive that in that particular episode they used a dolphin for whatever purpose they had and two I had the thougth of a shark fin in my comment before I had the thougth linking its similarities to that particular southpark episode…honest.
Stealing jokes from South Park is not cool, man. Stealing jokes and changing them so that they are the same joke but different is awesome, however.
Oh. It’s just that the way your examples became gradually further removed from the original subject and the last was an absurd comic book story, it made me think you were implying something like: “Well I can associate anything to false equivalents as well” or something like that.
Typical internet miscommunication.
@AlsoSprachOdin
Reminder to you both to watch the rating and your wording.
Aw shit, right, rule 7. I need to remember to spoiler more often.
Wait, who is being condescending? That’s the actual things that it reminds me off, stopped at a point where I didn’t get all weird.
You could just say “that’s anecdotal”. That way you don’t risk coming across as condescending.
Something less anecdotal: Transsexuals tend to be a lot more unhappy and suicidal (41 percent have attempted suicide according to the National Center for Transgender Equality and the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force), so I think instead of changing people’s bodies, it’s a better idea to help them accept and be happy with their natural gender.
Edited because: Changed something to less offensive wording
Oh yeah… and that one story always reminds me to the one of the two gay parents who adopted this kid and all the news networks were making a massive fuss about how good it all was because they had worked so hard to be approve, only for a few years later both being jailed because they were raping the kid daily and putting the video so other, similar gays could see and share theirs.
Which in turn reminds me to that one Austrian guy who kept his daughter as a baby factory for years, and how it was essentially forgotten in short notice without anyone bothering to rethink lost children procedures.
Which in turn reminds to this weird ass comic where a scientist used capture females practically as breeding machines and then killed them once they had served their used, leading to generations of animal-human hybrids suffering from depression at the thought they lack a family AND were quite literally hellish abominations created for war.
Which in turn…
