I think it’s more accurate to say people hate comic sans because they simply have nothing better to do with their lives.
When one develops strong feelings about different fonts, it’s time for one to wonder why one has so much excess time and energy.
So people hate Comic Sans because… other people are morons?

Hoenstly ‘though. I can’t see Twi using Comic Sans. Papyrus maybe. Comic Sans? No.
Because it’s purposely designed to be a friendly, informal typeface, but it’s being used everywhere, including much more formal settings. Using it for, say, government correspondence is like writing a resume with a crayon.
And then there’s a lot of grouches like me who think its friendliness feels forced. Give me a good, proper Helvetica any time, please.
Because people decided to hate on something without reason, or for the wrong reasons.
