When Sweetie Belle gets sick, it’s up to big sis Rarity to entertain Babs Seed on a visit to Manehattan. The only problem is the two seemingly have nothing in common! Will the two find a way to overcome their differences and find a way to have fun in the big city?

This pairing is interesting. It would’ve been cool if Sweetie Belle was here to interact with Babs’ sister, but whatever.
Never would’ve imagined a Rarity & Babs story, I don’t even think any fans ever made any.
Okay. Fine. I’m wrong, and you’re right. Congratulations. I’m a pathetic moron, and you made it perfectly clear for everyone to see.
See, even there you’re resorting to making things up. Sure, those characters have the potential to be something, but there’s nothing there now. The concept behind Friends Forever is to take established characters and pair them up to build the story out of their interactions. You start making up new personalities for characters who only had the barest hints of characterization, and it defeats the entire purpose. You may as well be using OCs at that point.
Guessing it was Rarity taking Sweetie to Manehattan for the visit, and that’s when she gets sick.
Babs does have a sister, but Rarity has to go because… reasons.
We still have two other crusaders. I mean, even if they can’t come to Manehattan, why does Rarity have to entertain Babs? Babs has a sister, right?
No risk, no reward.
I disagree. They have snippets of personality and characterization. Hints about who they are, and what they do.
Lyra, for example, seems to be a unicorn version of Pinkie Pie (IMO). She and Pinkie might have a goof-off of sorts, and Lyra will finally play a lyre. Or perhaps Bon Bon vs. the Cakes in a bake-off or something.
The background ponies have potential. Not using it is a waste.
Not really, though? Background characters might be popular, but none of them have any real personality or characterization to speak of. They’d have to effectively create them as brand new characters to use them as the main focus, which would undercut the entire premise of the book.
That’s a silly decision.
#1. Pinkie Pie and Applejack
#2. Cutie Mark Crusaders and Discord
#3. Spike and Princess Celestia
#4. Twilight Sparkle and Shining Armor
#5. Fluttershy and Zecora
#6. Rainbow Dash and Trixie
#7. Pinkie Pie and Princess Luna
#8. Applejack and Rarity
#9. Granny Smith and the Flim Flam Brothers
#10. Fluttershy and Iron Will
#11. Rainbow Dash and Spitfire
#12. Twilight Sparkle and Pinkie Pie
#13. Rarity and Babs Seed
They’ve already said this will not feature any background characters. Only mane six, princesses, CMC, side villains (Discord, Trixie, Iron WIll, Flim and Flam), and any major side characters (Spitfire, Granny Smith, Shining Armor)
They’ve yet to pair any of the mane characters with a background pony.
If I’m wrong, please correct me.
The entire idea behind Friends Forever is to pair characters up in new or unusual ways to explore new story ideas by having them interact. That’s why they have issues about Discord and the CMC, or Granny Smith and the Flim Flam brothers.
I actually like that they are trying new pairings. The fandom does the same old same old.
I don’t have an issue with it. I don’t mind them going for fresh pairings every now and then (Case in point Pinkie and Luna in FF #7 or Spike and Celestia from FF #3)
