Detailed syntax guide

Hearing they’re doing it as a middle-budget animation similar to Despicable Me. Just sounds like they’re playing it safe. I mean with or without bronies, this project would have been inevitable anyway.

As an aspiring filmmaker, I would not stop at a family film. With this accidental phenomenon I would make aim for the skies and make this the next Lord of the Rings with a Star Wars and Old Disney flavoring or at the very least the ‘female’ Avengers Marvel wouldn’t get to make at the moment.

Unfortunately, it’s not likely. This isn’t the ‘90s anymore, and digital animation, (even 2D digital animation like FiM) is less expensive then old-fashioned hand-drawn paper animation. So it’s unlikely they’d do that.
Though, if they did the animation like say Disney’s “Princess and the Frog,” or the “Curious George” movie, I’d be all for that. They manage to have a more hand-drawn quality despite being done digitally.

They should do actual hand drawn animation with more unique expressions and better movement, instead of Flash symbols. That’d make it look different and better than the show. Shading would be good too.

I’d prefer 2D, but preferably if they make the colors/shading more detailed then the show perhaps. Otherwise it’d just look like the EqG movies, or show. (Which I wouldn’t mind, but I’d like it to look a li’l different perhaps.)

I wouldn’t mind CGI/3D either as long as the animation is decent, and not like some straight-to-video looking CGI kid movie.

I’m going to be honest, in regards to all the CGI-hatred going around, I wouldn’t mind it being CGI-animated, as long as it has the same humor, voices, and such.

Though, you don’t see many 2D-animated movies lately, so I wouldn’t mind it being 2D either.

One of the things that made me a brony is that I actually despised MLP and find really admirable how they made a global phenomenon from something that was percived as… Err… Worse than Care Bears only by getting the right people and a modern design.

Only a step backwards and all this will collapse. For their sake, Hasbro must know that, because now they are working not only with little girls, but with an unexpected adult target composed by males from 18 to 35 years old. And I guess they are more than happy with it and want to keep it rolling while the fad/cult phenomenon lasts…
I’m cautiously optimistic.

I think the best thing people can do is not set their expectations too high, which it looks like lots of folks are already doing.

@ED-SKaR
Nah. It’s all superstitious bunk. I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
Kinda worrying that they are promoting “ouija” and “ouija board” as brand names.

That’s not the kind of thing kids should be exposed to… or anyone else for that matter.
And I’m just being realistic when I consider the movie as the end of G4. If the current G4 FIM continues for more seasons past the movie, hey great (as long as it retains the current quality - shows tend to have a “quality” lifetime of about 5-8 seasons from my experience/opinion).

Hasbro would be stupid to kill the show as long as the toy line is bring in the $$$.
It’s too early to tell, except this could be either an achievement that unties society’s perceptions on stereotyped media, an outstanding cult classic, or embarrassing refuse revealing the depths of capitalism’s capacity for annihilating creativity.

I like those odds.

Wow, 2017. Time passes.

What worries me is stuff about “broadening” the franchise. That raises a red flag to me that they’re going to take an approach toward making it “accessible” to a general audience by overhauling key aspects, rather than making it part of the FiM canon.

This could be outstanding if they bring in the right talent. I said long ago that they need to bring in Faust for this one, but as a side story or retelling, a strong writer and director who are artistically invested could pull it off.
