The movie came out waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before the ending of the season, and was the first to show nothing of the pony world. The only reference, was that, a reference to the ending of the season.
 
One so extremely especific that it is just irrefutable.

EG1 references Twilight’s Coronation. EG2 includes a scene inside Twilight’s Castle. Of course, we know EG3 aired on DF before S04E25.

Because Jorge Joestar is a novel considered non-canon (not being written by Hirohiko Araki) although his story can be “integrated” into canon without any repercussions.
 
Sunset Shimmer (and Equestria Girls in general) is in the same boat as Jorge Joestar in regards to canonicity.

Especially with that Korean comic from a yonk or two ago pitting Applejack as Jotaro against Rainbow as DIO and Flutter as The World.

Not counting Joseph, each JoJo with a Stand totals six.
 
In another pic, I propose Star Platinum is Twilight, Crazy Diamond is Rare, Gold Experience is Applejack, Stone Free is Rainbow because she’s blue I guess lel, Tusk is Pinkie because Tusk breaking through Ticket to Ride makes her the obvious choice, and Soft and Wet is Flutter, the world champ at “Shh!”.
 
While writing this comment, I realized Gold Experience as Flutter and Soft and Wet as Applejack would also work, but I’ll simply leave it to anypony who’s inspired by this comment to decide for themselves. (Ain’t got money for that. :T )
