That’s why I put ‘maybe 7’ for Twilight.
No, but her physical appearance was. Since the CMC are late bloomers, it’s very safe to assume that Twilight was younger than they were in season one, but not by a large margin.
Twilight was never probably a “normal” filly.
7 sounds too young for how the fillies act and how much freedom they have in the show. 8 at the youngest in the beginning of the show would probably be more accurate.
I would put Twilight’s age around the CMC’s current one, so pretty much 8, maybe 7.
A problem with this is that DnD dragons in those age categories are a completely different size that the ones in the show.
Also, I belieeve DnD dragons don’t take 100-year naps.
That bit of lore Twilight dropped on us (which came from Celestia, no less) suggests that MLP dragons live FAR longer than DnD ones, and most likely have a very different maturity rate as well.
There really is no issue, it just shows that Twilight was older than five. We don’t know anything about their ages anyway.

My running idea is that the MLP dragons age by similar rules to Pathfinder/DnD dragons.

Assuming Twilight hatched Spike when she was about five, and assuming she’s around seventeen or eighteen now, that’d mean Spike is about thirteen years old. A “Very Young” dragon, which seems to fit.
Garble and the others would be “Juvenile” to “Young Adult” age. That puts them somewhere between twenty-six and one-hundred years old…
And also means draconic puberty lasts for a long, looooong time.
I don’t think the two can be compared, though.
Far too long to type out in any reasonable span of time. But in pony years he probably would already be a young teen I’d assume?
The answer is long.
Somehow, it never occurred to me just how tiny those “teenage” dragons actually were.
…how long does dragon teenage-hood actually last, anyway? I mean, If Spike is still considered a baby by dragon standards…
