indeed! trends are always things that comes back and forth, like waves. we had the hipsters who were actually into the 70/80s, as a logical evolution, we can foresee the upcoming trend that will be very inspired by the nineties.

Even better! That means Vaporwave has more history than I thought. Funny that this should come up because I’ve just recently started listening to a lot more Vaporwave.
Vaporwave quickly came to its own since back in 2011 because of Floral Shoppe’s reception. It is often treated as the ur-vaporwave album but has precedents of similar concepts such as Oneohtrix Point Never’s work and even Com Truise’s 80s-style synthesizer works (with “Cyanide Sisters” having been released in 2010).

It also has a very distinct aesthetic style associated with it. Look up Macintosh Plus for the go-to song and associated image.
It’s a somewhat new genre of music known as “Vaporwave”. Sounds like elevator or shopping mall music.
The easiest way I can explain it is:
Fallout: Futuristic 1950s
Vaporwave: Futuristic 1990s
Not too new, but at some point within this year it started.
Come on now, that pun literally writes itself.
