Well, for one thing, the CMC never did anything like what Twilight had to go through. Also Twilight was hardly an idiot.
But alicorns are 1/3 earth pony!

I’ve always liked the idea that one of the CMCs would become an alicorn, and be the patron deity of late-bloomers who are still blank flanks. Which would mean never having a cutie mark.
Alicorns take longer to get those apparently, so it makes sense for her to not have a Cutie Mark. Cutie Mark obsession eliminated!
That would be a little mean, and a little funny.
