In context of the comic, adding in the previous RD/Trixie Friends Forever (which is shown to have happened before this story), yes. She wants to be a pony that others like and want to be friends with, but she also has a showpony-side to her that she also wants to upstage others, and that gloating/boastful nature is what makes her seem terrible.
 
I’m not a Trixie apologist, but there’s a legit side here that I can believe.

For a pony with no friends to either point out her mistakes or to help her, she deserves some tears just like how Discord betrayed everyone in the season 4 finale only to be betrayed by himself (and Tirek).
 
Redemption is a challenging experience for many.

I really like how they make the character arc/development for Trixie. While Twilight’s almost every episode because she’s the main character, Trixie as a side character yet she gets a development in such a great length. And she’s experiencing/learning everything from her very own eyes.

While she probably is playing the drama a bit (the single tear is a bit much),this does make me sympathize with her a lot more(and also annoys me when I some sort of pic with Trixie group with villains.) and I am interested to see where this goes.

I like how dispite her ego, she can be cute, and vulnerable at times to. (Like when she apologized at the end of “Magic Duel.”)
