There was a store near my parent’s which used to sell plasticard, model kits, radio control cars and train sets. Sadly the owner passed away a couple of years ago.
Now, the only place I can get model materials is through E-bay. (And it’s around the same prices I was paying at that model shop too, which is good).
Plastic glue, I use the Tamaiya (sp?) one. The blue bottle with the needle applicator. Nowhere locally sells that. Another thing I have to use E-bay to get.
That was my attitude a lot of the time. I built my own fighta-bomba plane for my ork army one time, but it never got completed, and I couldn’t find a store that sold plasticard anywhere. I imagine for the price GW sells their products, you could probably save money by investing in a 3D printer over the long run.
It’s a scratch built model, because the official model costs (currently, they keep hiking the prices up) £425.
I object to paying so much for a model I can build a pretty close approximation of for a fraction of the cost.
Next model project is an Imperator class Battle Titan. Roughed the legs out for it ages ago, but it got abandoned. Not ponifying this one. (Although sticking a mock up of Canterlot Castle on the back of it could be amusing…..).
I saw that actually. That was the reason I went hunting for a less complete image so I could see all the modifications that went into it. I wasn’t sure if you used a base model or built the whole thing, and I was impressed. lol
Edited
I certainly have put some hours in getting this thing built.
It’s a lot nearer finished now of course.
It’s actually £399. Just dug up a forge world catalog from 2003, and it was £375 way back then.
The Tempest is £28 in there. Same page.
I reckon this (and the other 3 I’m building as well), set me back around £55 in materials so far.
Still a far cry from the £400 price tag on the official model though.
