Of course they contradict - Ancient Egypt spanned a very long time and interacted indepth with many other cultures. “Major” gods such as Osiris and Anubis frequently came into being or fell into obscurity.
In one of the many variations of the general aggregations of wildly contradictory myths that made up the Egyptian canon, yeah. Not sure exactly how that would work in a kids’ show/allegedly kids’ comic.
He was a god of birth in general - he fertilized the Cosmic Egg to create the world. It was believed that the crescent moon made women conceive and air turn fresh.
…A fair point, I suppose. Then again, his most notable attribute was connection with childbirth and specifically placentas, so I can possibly guess why they didn’t go there…
The entire background of Nightmare Moon was that Luna was jealous of the day getting all the attention while the night was ignored, so Khonsu being seen as “insignificant” only makes it a more fitting analogy.
Khonsu was never a significant part of the Egyptian pantheon, though. He was just sort of there. Besides, these two were (after a point) practically “sister civilizations”, anyway.
