A couple that is identical will fail to boredom.  
A couple that is opposites will fall apart from conflicts.  
You need a couple that complements each other. Where talents of one are interests of the other.  
Say, an engineer with fondness for art and an artist with interest in science. The two can create wonders together, and get through obstacles that would be a huge barrier for one or the other.

You didnt read it carefully. It was Luna who designed the booby traps. Celestia wasnt fond of them. So actually she is a stick in the mud.

I’ve seen a few relationships, real or fictional were the two have few if noting in common yet they get on well, a few fight but they love each other still a strong bond, to say it would never work is like saying no relationship could never work

if you think people have to agree with everything then what’s the point, from what I’ve seen there has been no couples that are in perfect agreement, people will fight but many still love each other

When has Discord ever made sense? If he wanted something, say a relationship, he would do it because he thought it would be fun/funny.
 
Celestia isn’t exactly a stick in the mud and does like to have fun. She just can’t do it as much because of her royal status. (Going by her journal, it was Celestia who built the old castle to be booby trapped.) So, given time, I think she’d warm up to his antics. They are immortal and do have all the time in the world to do so.
 
So this ship is still possible. (They aren’t exactly opposites. It’s more of Discord being on the extreme.)

Not exactly true, there need to be some kind of common ground. That only work if they would have different personalities but still shared their interests. There isnt anything that would make Discord try to spend time with Celestia as seen on this picture.

complete BS, my parents are opposites and they fight for years and ended up divorced, now my mom is with a guy that has the same views than her and they are happy, my dad remains alone, come on dad, find a new girl.

yes! maybe when they were younger and celestia had less responsibilities, but i agree with all the reasons mentioned as to why i dont actively ship dislestia, not matter how much amazing art there is out there of it.
