Celestia dont sacrifice other for fun and yes she other pony fight in her place but only if she knew those can do it! if is no possiblity then she do her self! Celestia dont want her subject think Celestia can do all and them do nothing! this is reason she let her student do it! cuz her studen is the most trusted pony she know! sure she trust some other pony for other mission!

Remember the best part of that whole mess? The Autobots were so desperate for strong leadership they picked freaking Grimlock as their new leader, and he spent more time fighting other Autobots than fighting the Decepticons!

Most likely because in the original generation 1 comics, Optimus DID die for a no good and completely pointless reason.
 
Seriously Prime, accidently killing some NPC’s in a VIDEO GAME is not a justifiable reason to order your own death!
