What I think is more interesting here is the shape of the shadows might give us some insight into the texture of the ponies on which they are cast. Look at that little point on Celestia’s neck, and the larger jutting corner on her golden torc.

Like, making an OC? Sorry, but those things never get as widely accepted as characters with some basis in canon, even if you get the one in a hundred that is a genuinely good character.

Here’s a thought: maybe instead of attaching fanon to copyrighted characters and technically haf-assing characterization, maybe people could actually go all the way and make something from scratch?

Most of the Luna fans I’ve seen are only for either the S1-fluttershy-the-electric-boogaloo character or the epin-gamurr-luna fanon, licking each other’s feet while sharing mediocre fanfics and the like adn throwing a ragefit every time she is shown in a sexual situation with an OC or one where she shows being phisically or emotionally hurt.  
…Still not as bad as dashfags tho’

I don’t like Luna all that much. Celestia is much better whether taken at face value or not.

More people replying seriously to something meant as a joke from Luna’s perspective x) Everything you’ve said is already clear, at least to me, the guy who made this.

Part of it is that Luna is just mysterious and alluring, plus her backstory makes her at least slightly complex and interesting. Celestia is sorta TOO pure, spotless and perfect, and it has the effect of making her untrustworthy. That’s why there are all those Molestia and Trollestia jokes; when she’s that flawless, you get the sense she’s hiding something nasty about herself. Sorta like Walt Disney. We see the warts and all of Luna, and that makes her feel more complete and three-dimensional.
 
Plus a bunch of internet nerds just feel a sort of empathy with a character who almost never ventures out into public, has backward ways of socializing, feels isolated and unappreciated by society, and only goes out at night. Myself fully included.
