I can headcanon that. BonBon being lyra’s own name for Sweetie Drops, who refuses it first but starts to answer to it after they grow closer. Maybe even like being called a chosen name. It’s like a new identity: Sweetie Drops may have been a boring mare, but BonBon can be anything she wants her to be.
