Many people are tired of it.
You can only “subvert” a cliche so much until the subversion itself becomes the new cliche.
Thank you! Also, was this wedding the infamous “Red Wedding” that somehow resulted in the deaths of about 30 others characters?
They have been spamming completely out of context and frequently rambling messages about Frozen on random images across the site for almost a year, and although we’ve explained to them - repeatedly - that we are an MLP site, not a Disney site - they insist that we’re deleting their comments because we “hate Frozen”.
Imagine if Blueblood was worse than Joffrey. The show’s wouldn’t be Y-rated anymore, wouldn’t it?
@Background Pony #7103
What the hell are you going on about? Nobody even talked about Frozen here. Or did you drop that rant in the wrong comment section?
Good thing that’s not the other way around, if only for the show’s content rating.
Poisoned pie at his wedding.
The tag says it all.
“Then there’s THIS donkeyplot!”
In that vein, though, Blueblood hasn’t been shown to be cruel or bloodthirsty or even ambitious or powermad. Just rude. You can say he has no redeeming values, but at the same time, he has no damning ones either… except for narcissism over his own in-verse good looks and upper class snobbery at an event catering to upper class snobbery.
In the online bios, he isn’t even in the villain category… while ponies like Diamond Tiara are. He’s less evil (“bad”) than a common bully like Diamond Tiara.
Unfortunately, his archetype is the most reviled of them all in certain circles. Not a dictator like Sombra, not an amoral alien invader like Chrysalis, not a demon-possessed usurper like Nightmare Moon, and not a Walking End of the World like Discord or Tirek. He’s just rude and inconsiderate while being rich and popular. For a certain demographic, this is the greatest and most unforgivable sin of them all, for which there can never be an excuse.
Except Jaime and Rhaegar have been shown to have at least some redeeming qualities (like bravery for one; Joffrey and Blueblood, not so much). Blueblood however has none (as far as we know), even if he’s most certainly not as bad as Joffrey.
Or, really, even Rheagar, as the Targ Prince who basically caused the whole mess by kidnapping (or just seducing) Lyanna Stark, and who was also an arrogant pretty boy dismissive of others.
Frankly, just because “I don’t like X and I don’t like Y, therefore X is the same as Y” isn’t very good reasoning. I didn’t like Bush Jr and I don’t like Stalin, but I’d never say Bush = Stalin.
Seriously though, I haven’t even read/watched GoT completely yet, and even I know this is the perfect comparison (though the levels of assholery that would result from this combination would probably be off the charts).
Probably because Blueblood didn’t
a. callously break his word
b. spitefully have his fiance stripped and beaten in public
c. behead people, knowing it would cause a civil war
d. kill prostitutes for fun
e. humiliate and belittle those who dare to do his job for him
f. clumsily and/or ham-fistedly attempt to assassinate children
OTOH, they both have blond hair and they’re both rich and dismissive of lower social strata. So, yeah.
Old events if you’ve read the book.
