Yup… and funnily it isn’t John Leeson voicing him in Destiny… apparently I read somewhere it was the late great Roy Skelton doing it…
“Yeah, you never work when it’s f***ing important.”
(That was an adlib by the Fourth Doctor that, for obvious reasons, didn’t make the cut)
The main reason I know the reason behind K-9’s voice-thing is because of TV Trope’s Hand Wave page, which has a section for it.
Yup. K-9 is just a remote-controlled plastic prop, and his voice is just someone (John Leeson, actually) trying to do robotic syllables and then modified at a computer.
It’s like answering “She’s the token black-haired girl of Kingdom Hearts” to “Who is really Xion?”
Though the real reason was because the episode’s writer didn’t like K-9.
Yup, and IIRC the reason K-9 had laringitis is because of Romana’s leftover regeneration energy, mixed with some electrified gases from some planet they were in the episode before K-9 got laringitis.
I was quoting Four.
Maybe he did not, but he thinks that he did? Or maybe it was an advanced-enough robot who had illnesses? Or a natural shapeshifter and\or Time Lord that likes to regenerate into a robotic dog form?
I’ve seen some webisodes\minispecials (the one where Eight regenerates into John Hurt, the one with the Music of the Spheres, and the one where the Fifth Doctor meets the Tenth one), a few snippets of some episodes including Rose and Doctor’s Daughter, and read a comic about Six and Frobisher wanting to watch a baseball show with Peri but ending up in the prehistoric era instead, and read a lot of Tardis Wiki and various related forums. I just do not think i really have much time for actually watching live-action stuff without feeling too awkward and losing the passion.
Almost forgot. Thank you.
First thing I’d do if I got a time machine would be to go back to the original airings of every Classic Doctor Who episode and record it to donate to the BBC.
I’m still holding out hope that we’ll find more sooner or later
Yeah. If I’m not mistaken, the audio for most of the lost episodes is still available (if at really poor quality)…
yeah. It’s a shame about that.
Though I think he has some of the reconstructions (that are available)
Well, at least the classic episodes that still exist, anyway…
Yeah, I know that’s only a problem for the First and Second Doctors, but still.
check out greendude33 on Dailymotion. He has pretty much the entirety of the classic series if you go to his playlists
Do you know a good place to go and watch them? I don’t have access to Netflix at the moment (need to find a job first).
HAHA OH YEAH. I had forgotten about that!
It was the last one before the hiatus, and so instead of having him say “I’ll take you to Blackpool” they had him say “I’ll take you to-”
Isn’t Revelation of the Daleks the one where the last line of the episode got cut off awkwardly because plans had changed?
I recommend The Seeds of Doom and City of Death for a couple of 4th Doctor episodes. He has a LOT of good ones.
You should check out one of Colin’s serials when you get the chance. I recommend Vengeance on Varos or Revelation of the Daleks. The 6th Doctor gets a bad rap because of some poor scripts and behind-the-scenes drama at the BBC, but in spite of that he’s one of my favorite Doctors. He’s even got a multi-Doctor episode with Pat Troughton (the Two Doctors)
“Yeah, you never work when it’s f***ing important.”
Aw, I was gonna say that.
I really need to see more Classic Who, though. I’ve only seen four 1st Doctor serials, one 2nd, four 3rd (including the Three Doctors, so I guess I’ve see two 2nd), snippits of 4th, two 5th, one 7th, 8’s movie, then almost all of Nu Who (I think I missed “Dalek” from 9’s tenure).
