I have nothing to do with this but i would still like some tea
I dislike tea severely. Are other beverages available?
And you’re not his real son, but he still loved you like you were anyway.
Shame on you.
You’re not my real dad and I never loved you.
That isn’t a good thing.
Why don’t you all calm down and have a nice cup of tea instead?
Alright, that’s it.
You make the assumption that her power forces love where it did not exist already, as the love potion does. I seriously doubt she would be so well looked upon by others if that was the case.
We’ve seen her do it in the flashback. The fact that she doesn’t think it’s a problem is the problem.
And free will is all-important. Love is not love if it’s forced.
I agree it’s a dangerous power with the potential for abuse. But the fact that there’s nothing to suggest she actually abuses this power seems significant.
But fine, let’s say she goes around brainwashing ponies. I support her evil plan to lower the divorce rate. :P
Not trying to. He’s just being…really rabid. Just accept that I don’t agree with you, dude.
@Lawful Girly
Y’all might want to take it down a notch; we’re moving from discussion to insults.
“Cutie Mark Chronicles”.
@BrownieComicWriter
Eh, the evil brainwashing thing I’m willing to accept as a storytelling device and that he could have been fooled into it. Love makes you lower your guard, or so I’ve heard.
@BrownieComicWriter
I WAS NOT BEING LIKE THAT. The problem is you being overly critical and making baseless judgments, not the mere fact that you’re expressing an opinion. There is NOTHING wrong with the simple action of expressing an opinion in itself. I do it all the time.

Ah, okay, I understand. What you’re saying is, “Don’t express any opinions that disagree with mine,” even if you’re able to provide rational explanations for them. ‘Being overly critical’ is called being critical at all, and it’s practically the job of the audience.
What? When had this been established before Canterlot Wedding?
Well, if you’re being that picky, then Shining Armor didn’t realise when his bride had been replaced by an impostor, and Princess Cadance collapsed from fatigue after continuously generating a force field around the Crystal Empire.

Well, yeah. It’s not that hard to top them. But I’m still not over the fact that her power is brainwashing and everyone seems to think this is a good thing. Before you go, “No, she’s reminding them of why they loved each other in the first place!”, I remind you that situations change and falling out of love is a real possibility.
Be fair, most things the CMC got involved in during the first few seasons (and a good chunk of them even now) tended to result in disaster. All this really shows is that Cadance is more mature and responsible than the CMC, and I think we can admit that’s not a particularly high standard.
And yet, you still are…because they’re more than just opinions, see below. Obviously, that she’s a terrible character is an opinion, but the facts below are true.
If you think your preferences and assumptions about a character are facts, you are not worth talking to.
And then inserted her into a backstory which had already been established. Dummy.
Yes, I am saying that. Shining Armor is, obviously, too. (I mean, look at his name.) Celestia has doubts about whether she did the right thing with Luna; Zecora admits she doesn’t have the solution to everything; etc.
So don’t be all
Not being in the show bible doesn’t mean she was a retcon. It means they thought of her later, dummy.
And what? You’re saying she’s flawless and one-dimensional because no negative facets of her personality have been focused on? What about Princess Celestia? What about Zecora? What about Shining Armor? What about a whole host of other ponies???
In short,
Well, okay, you want proof? Let’s go find the show bible by Lauren. If she’s not in there, well…
And no, that’s not opinion. Show me a negative facet of her personality that has been focused on.
“You can’t cite something that they won’t admit”
So what you’re basically saying is that you don’t have proof of this and you’re assuming the worst. As for the personality, that’s personal opinion, not the objective fact you’re making it out to be.
Yes, that last one was a joke (“best color” indeed). You can’t cite something that they won’t admit, and she has absolutely no flaws of any kind visible while having the power of wuv (a power which, when used by the CMC I remind you, resulted in a realistic huge problem). Actually, if anything, calling her a Disney princess might be giving her too much credit, since most of those have more than one dimension by now.
Legitimate complaints?
“The backstory was a hasty retcon to sell more toys” - Citation needed.
“Her personality is obnoxiously perfect Disney princess” - How so?
“And she’s not green.” - Please tell me you’re joking.
