I can’t speak for other people, but my first reaction to being grabbed without warning is to try and get out of the hold. I can’t imagine that Fluttershy would be any more calm about it than I am.
 
Surprise hugs are fun to give, but can be nerve-wracking to receive.
 
Anyway, yeah, more interactions between Spike and Fluttershy. Even if they don’t address Spike growing up, there’s enough ground for an episode in there.
 
If nothing else, covering why Fluttershy trusts Spike with watched her animals while she’s away.

I saddened that they didn’t do more with the Spike X Flutters relationship that they had in the first episode

Also, these two need to interact more. The last time they really interacted was the flipping pilot episode. I mean, she’s afraid of dragons, so what’s she going to do when her friend grows up a little and resembles one of those “terrifying” dragons. It’s another interesting concept that will never be addressed by the show sadly.
