Description
Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon, no character development since Season 1 and that hasn’t bothered them at all.
(It still pains me to see Silver Spoon acting so mean, honestly.)

I know, right? It totally suits her, too.
That’d be kinda funny.
Yeah, she’d basically be their Bender or their Eddy (I could definitely see Di in an Eddy-type role).
Yeah, that could be interesting. Like I said I wouldn’t want them completely reformed, just show they aren’t “pure irrideemably evil” like some fans seem to think.
Having them as frenemies or as token evil teammates could probably be quite entertaining.
Good point. It’s probably best to leave some things ambiguous.
I suppose it could be interesting, like still have them be rivals/annoyances for the CMC, just not as “evil” as they were.
Not using the word “handicapped” allows for plausible deniability incase someone gets offended; it’s the same reason TBBT hasn’t specified whether or not Sheldon Cooper is Autistic. They can always say “but Scootaloo isn’t really handicapped!” if they leave it vague; if they spell it out, that means a whole lot of things are now off-limits.
Yeah, I was the exact same way with Discord. Then, I actually started giving the reformed-Discord a chance and I really started liking him - he’s just a whole lot of fun! I think if the writers handled Di and Silver’s rapprochement with the CMC’s they way the handled Discord and the Mane Six’s own rapprochement, we’d be in good hands…erm, hooves.
Yeah, though being “handicapped” was an original idea Faust had for Scoots. Not sure if they’re using it, or are just afraid of using the word “handicapped.”
At first, I didn’t like Discord being reformed, but overall I ended up liking the way it was handled. (And I suppose in a way it kinda mirrors how John D’Lancie’s other famous character Q was kinda reformed to. Said character Discord was kinda based off of according to Faust.) I kinda like how while reformed he still occasionally causes trouble, and is kinda a not always willing ally for the ponies now.
They also kinda developed his reformation more with the Tirek incident, which was also kinda neat. So it’s kinda interesting they developed it further.
I wouldn’t mind them reforming Tiara & Spoon a li’l bit, or at least just showing a more positive/nicer side to them, but keep them as still a slight annoyance for the CMC. Like I said some shows like “Rugrats” have showed the “bully” characters with some likeable qualities.
Yeah, I agree with you on Scootaloo. After all, most of her Pegasi classmates have tiny wings - does that mean they can’t fly, either?
Honestly, if Discord can be reformed, anypony can; they set the bar pretty low, considering that Discord was a despot who tormented ponies for fun and twisted the very fabric of reality before his reformation.
I think they were just desparate for a way to sabotage the CMC so they could win the contest, and the old “bland-flank” insults weren’t working anymore. I guess it was quite low, but I see Scootaloo as more “underdeveloped” then “handicapped.” Some felt Tiara & Spoon crossed the “moral event horizon” that ep’.
Maybe similar to Discord, but I wouldn’t mind them remaining antagonists. Can’t reform every villain.
I like “Twilight Time,” it was also the closest we got so far to seeing a different side to Tiara & Spoon. Even if they were kissing-up, they were slightly friendlier to the CMC, and it was kinda interesting to see them in a “peer-preasure” group role, as opposed to being bullies for once.
I heard that to of what Chantel said (Tiara’s VA) I’m curious what will happen. It would be nice to see a different side to Tiara besides “lol blank flanks.”
Her singing in “Pinkie Pride” was cute though.
>It was kinda low for them to pick on Scoots’ inability to fly, (some fans found them both irredeemable, because of that) but “Stephen King-level” bullies is a bit exaggerated.
But only a bit. Plus, they’ve never sunk that low before nor since, so I’d argue it was out of character for them (or at the very least not consistent with their methods).
>They could perhaps be half-reformed, but still get on the CMC’s nerves, or try to peer preasure them, and such.
In other words, what we’ve got with Discord now. I could get behind this.
>In Season 4 they did have an ep’ where they were kissing up to the CMC in a slightly different twist, and even trying to make them more popular which was kinda an interesting change of pace. (Even if they were doing it for their own selfish reasons.) So there was a li’l of that already.
Yeah, Twilight Time was a good episode.
>Still as I said, they don’t have to completely reform them, but I wouldn’t mind seeing other sides to their personality besides “lol blank flanks!” Though, I doubt the show will bother, sense their whole role is to be antagonists, or cause problems for the CMC.
I’m not sure - Chantral Strand hinted that they’re going to try and give Diamond Tiara some character development this season; it’ll be interesting to see if the writers keep this up.

Like many a Silver Spooner, I was in the “Silver is redeemable, Diamond Tiara is not” camp for awhile. Honestly, if Discord can do a heel turn, anypony can: even Diamond Dazzle Tiara. I think it would be nice if both Di and Silver stopped being antagonists (seriously, this conflict was worn out ages ago and the only way the writers were able to keep it going in S4 was by reducing these two to Stephen King-level bullies - Valentine might as well have gone all out and had Diamond Tiara pull out a switchblade and threaten to make chicken nuggets out of Scootaloo) and were fleshed out. I’d also like to see the three Crusaders’ get their Cutie Marks: they deserve them after five seasons and countless misadventures.
As for what should be done with Di and Silver, I think it might be nice to make them into allies of the CMC’s, similar to what’s been done with Discord. Perhaps the writers can differentiate Di and Silver Spoon a bit, like they tried to do back in Seasons 1 and 2?
To be honest, the fanbase has been doing that whole “Silver Spoon is redeemable, but not Tiara” bit so much, I kinda got tired of it, and I’d rather the show not do that. It’s terribly cliche’ for the bad guy sidekick to suddenly become good, and such.
I wouldn’t mind both being shown with a different more likeable side to them, but not be completely reformed, and still somewhat annoying/mean to the CMC. Other shows like “Rugrats,” and “Salute your Shorts,” (yeah, I’m a ‘90s kid) have show bully characters can have other sides to them, and aren’t always jerks.
Lauren probably had something in mind for Silver Spoon (she said Silver wasn’t such a bad pony on her Twitter once), but it’s clear the current crop of writers don’t seem interested in (or are too lazy to) playing it out.
They already wrote Flight to the Finish.
Yeah, they were oddly almost likeable in this episode. (Yet, still a li’l bratty so they weren’t to OOC.)
Only “heel face turn” I wasn’t to keen on at first was Discord’s, but I like how it was handled, and how he’s still somewhat antagonistic. (Just in a more subtle/clever way.)
Yeah, I forgot about Trixie, it seems she doesn’t have much of a role anymore sense then, but we’ll see what they do with her. I wouldn’t of minded her staying a minor, or unintentional villain perhaps. (Like getting corrupted again, and such.)
Oh I really loved Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon in this episode, best fillies by the way. The writers seem to finally understand how to write them as jerks, while remembering that they are still children.
Nightmare Moon/Luna reform was decent, at least it had importance to the story. Babs was forced, dull, and extremely cliche, and with Discord, while he was one of the best villains, I have at least warmed up to the idea.
You also forgot about Trixie, actually a lot of the fandom is forgetting about Trixie. While she’s still a popular character, we definitely hear a lot less about her since her redemption.
Aside from Luna, all of these redemption’s take place during season 3, I’m not surprised the writing was a little off.
@DiamondDust
Yeah, I get tired of this desire for Spoon to pull a “heel face-turn,” and “betray Tiara to teach her a lesson,” and such. Fans ignore Spoon was just as mean as Tiara, and at times even meaner. (Like in “Flight to the Finish”)
Plus, I don’t want that “bad guy becoming good” trope to get overused in the show. (After Nightmare Moon/Luna, Babs, and Discord.) I wouldn’t mind them both gradually being less bitchy though.
I’m all for the head canon of Silver Spoon being nicer. But the problem is a lot of fans just use it as an excuse to try and breakup Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon, because they have an unquenchable hatred towards her.
Don’t worry, one writer will randomly decide to write one of them OOC at some point and then that’ll tweak everything
i dunno
just something to do i guess
