Don’t forget how Joe Quesada said the “ultimate” Spider-Man plot would be Pete trying to download net porn while hiding it from Aunt May.
Spike: What? No…Twilight, why would I ask you to do that? I was more hoping you’d send it to Tartarus.
Twilight: …I doubt even Tirek deserves this piece of c(yay).
I know, it makes no sense.
That line always cracks me up.
And together we can BE justice!
Pity it wasn’t. Then Spike could learn how he too could ‘become Justice.’
Don’t follow Marvel or DC comics anymore (I tried to get back into it, and I happened to choose OMD in a cruel twist of fate), but I believe Elixir was around already.
@Background Pony #9E99
That was basically, “Red Hulk is totally awesome and can beat up everybody”, right?
How about Ultimatum?
Was Elixer even around at that time?
And Elixir, an X-Man whose power is “biological manipulation”. He’s given superpowers, gave enemies cancer in the shape of the X-men logo, and cured someone of having their heart ripped out of their chest, but he can’t fix a single gunshot wound?
And don’t forget, we ultimately found out it wasn’t Pete who did the deal, but MJ. Apparently to reinforce the whole ‘she’s not right for him’ aspect.
Also making a deal with the devil , THAT’S NOT PETER!
That’s bull, lots of fans hated that Quesada removed Peter and Mary Jane’s marriage, it was the idea of people like him thinking he was hard to write him still married.
I wasn’t so hung up on the poor writing or characterisation (which, honestly, I’ve come to expect from both Marvel and DC), or the back-tracking over undoing Spider-Man’s unmasking (no magic retcon my foot). Nonsense like every single science and/or magic based hero and villain being unable to cure a gunshot wound doesn’t make me too mad (except even Doctor Doom? With that ‘cure-any-wound/illness machine’?) .
My main issue is Spider-Man basically made a deal with the Devil. That’s kind of a dealbreaker.

Being married to Mary Jane is not what fans wanted, because it made him harder to write for and live through vicariously.
Roboshi explained it to me that it was sloppy, disrespectful, removes Spider Girl and that the fans were not against Mary Jane as much as the creators were.
So I’ve changed my mind.
Are you for real? o.O
What do you mean by “what fans and creators wanted”?
>changes continuity barely
>fans get mad
Yea it’s anticlimactic and has little closure but come on.
Imagine if it was revealed that Peter and Mary Jane would eventually have a child that would grow up to defeat Mephisto. Then Mephisto’s reason for undoing their marriage would actually be a good reason.
