Description
As the group made their way to the light, the tunnel opened up to a large hollowed out cavern much like the one they landed a while back. Except rather than a small lake, a large hole showed a two storied cavern system, illuminated by glow crystals that hung from the ceiling. The dragon group had entered on the second floor overlooking the first. Tunnels were on every cavern wall, supposedly leading to different excavated rooms, and possibly down to the first floor as well.
Though the cavern itself was notable, it wasnt what caught Spikes eye as he peered over the edge looking down into what looked to be a quarry. He was right about it being a diamond dog mining operation, but what he saw he would have never had guessed in a million years. It wasnt the diamond dogs breaking rocks, finding gems, and carting them along tracks, but dragons. Not young dragons like Spike and his friends, but older dragons. Not the giant sized ones, but still pretty big. There was a particularly large one pulling the over-sized mine cart of gems. The dragons all wore chains and collars and a lone diamond dog stood guard overseeing the work being done to mine gems. But what frightened Spike the most was how passive and subservient the dragons were to this treatment.
“Dude!” Spike exclaimed in a hushed whisper. “Diamond dogs are kidnapping dragons to work in the gem mines! Is that even possible? Howd this happen?
Snort who had watched along with Spike could only look on in horror, unable to give an explanation to the sight before them.
Spike and Snort scrambled back from the edge looking down on the site as to not be seen by the guard dog. They backed into a corner, hopefully out of sight.
“Dude what do we do?” Spike asked urgently.
“I dont know, but if the diamond dogs are dragon-napping the other dragons in the ridge need to know.” Snort said.
“So do we just sneak by? And leave these dragons to be slaves? Spike sympathized. “We cant leave them here.”
“But if they couldnt get out on their own, what good will we do?” Snort asked, “we should get out of here while we still can.”
“Weve got the element of surprise though, maybe we could spur a jailbreak for them,” Spike suggested. “Right Magma? You did want to start a fight. Magma? Sharp? Spike whispered looking for some kind of response from the up till now silent other half of the group, What do you guys think, huh? Spike turned to see what was up with the other two.
