Same here. It’s the journey there that gives this all meaning. They have been and seen the worst of things during their travels outside of their little haven. Sam’s heart is breaking at the sight of his dear friends suffering and he can’t be the one to carry Frodo’s emotional burden, but… by reminding Frodo of his past and pleasant memories. He starts to resolve to push him to finish it. In picking him up and carrying him. He relieves Frodo of the physical burden of walking when he is, at this point in time, simply trying to resist the temptation of the ring.(Which has slowly eroded away at him from within) So he takes on that physical weight so Frodo can concentrate on his internal struggle. They both support one another on more than a few surface levels. I’m pulling all this from memory, so forgive if I got any of that wrong, but that’s how I feel about it. :3
