My thoughts exactly! “Old former savior of the world turns into a grumpy hobo in a deserted land after inadvertently causing the evil that the current protagonist is trying to fight against.” This fits the whole Star Wars sequel trilogy narriative of Luke Skywalker perfectly, only with evil Twilight taking the place of Luke (and Sunny being Rey). Naturally the reception seems to be about the same for both, lol.

Honestly, the whole “Twilight losing her friends and turning evil” is probably one of the oldest tropes in this fandom. But that being said… who cares? Like, this a fanart. It’s going to be at least a little bit derivative by definition. As long as the artwork itself shows at least basic competency (which this does), then I see no real reason to complain.
Also it literally says in the description this was directly inspired by another piece.

This is more a passing thought and not necessarily a jab at this nice art (this meme is pretty much just a “draw this in your style” at this point), but as much as I have many issues with G5, I am so glad the fans aren’t writing it. “Twilight is full of hate now because bitterness over death/magic/etc” is about the most out of character, not to mention totally cliche thing they could’ve possibly done, and I’m always surprised how many people think that would’ve been a great idea.
