yes you’re right. Anyone younger than 20 doesn’t remember them at all. because they were just another small fad in the 90s whose fame was made up for money and then people lost interest in them and they were forgotten. now bands like the beatles, led zeppelin, queen and AC/DC all came out about 40 - 60 years ago and that’s even a longer time but still most all people younger than 20 knows who they are.

Keep in mind that around 20 years have passed since the Backstreet Boys first came out. Anyone younger than 20 or so most likely won’t remember them at all.

Well, I guess it’s now ok to admit you actually LIKED the Backstreet Boys (I always did and had no problem telling people so, but I digress.) I remember during the 80s when no one would be caught dead admitting they actually LIKED Disco back in the 70s. I considered it fascinating that people would join the hate-wagon the moment something wasn’t popular anymore. In my opinion, that means they were never true fans to begin with.
 
This might happen to MLP someday several years down the road. I have a feeling that Season 4 may be the last one (I’ll be glad to be proven wrong, but only up to a point. I would rather see it end on top then become a worn-out Long Runner that got ran into the ground). The casual fans will leave and go on to the next popular thing, leaving only the true fans. I will be among the ones that stay: popular opinion never has (and never will) dictate my likes and dislikes.
