Description
The fact that things like this happen is sickening. Terrible atrocities happen everyday, all around the world. It is in times like this we see the worst society can do, but at the same time we can also see the best of society as people come together and help one another. God bless our troops, God bless our public safety officials, and our thoughts and prayers to everyone in Boston, as well as around the world facing crises
They had a bake sale and somebody burned the lemon tarts.
What just happened in Orlando? I haven’t heard about it.
Never underestimate terrorists. Look at what just happened in Orlando. Given there wasn’t security there, but still.
there’s extra security for the upcoming marathons, so any more bombings are unable to happen
i know and i hope so too. I watched live coverage as they caught him and i could feel the sense of relief the residence of Watertown did when they said “we got him”
Agreed. The second suspect has been caught and will hopefully be brought to justice.
They were involved in gunfight and shot over 200 some rounds. They deserve to be punished for sure.
well, they killed the officer prior to the firefight, but at least it’s one down, one to go. And people are like “lets not jump to conclusions that it’s them”, but i’m like “innocent people don’t rob 7-11s, kill officers in their car and shoot at them in a suburban area AND throw explosives at them. Yeah, it’s them.”
No one complained about it because NYC is for some reason a mutant hub as well as an immigration hub in the marvel universe. Just one of those things where writers assign undue importance to one’s home state/city, and when newer writers come they take it up, again and again.
So, even if you remove the glurge that makes ABSOLUTELY no sense except to the writer, in-universe they all got their own reasons for giving a shit about it.
Doom runs a country, NY is a trading hub, it screwed a lot of ‘big players’ financially.
Magneto is not just a mutant but also jewish. The hijackers are from a sect of Islam which despises both.
Kingpin LIVES THERE and his business and empire is centered there.
Makes total sense to have used those three.
What would have garnered the same negative reaction would have been showing Juggernaut and Sabretooth getting misty-eyed when they kill more people daily.
That’s because the country’s been perpetually at war with itself since the 50s.
There’s a lot of uniqueness in this event though, not least of which being that no one’s rushing to claim it.
Well many of those stations are not international stations so tragedy that happen in the country will get top priority. Do you expect the local news stations in Syria to focus on US news? Big prominent events do end up on every news station. There are international stations that share stories of countries like Syria everyday. I do agree that the media covers tragedies too much and usually they focus too much on the criminal at hand. Keep in mind that a mass shooting or bombing in America is a lot more traumatizing than a country at war with itself.
There is no exception here and it only ever takes a single negative comment to spiral it out of control.
Keep on disappointing, humanity.
“Crying Scootaloo feels bad about the Boston bombings” is silly, not profound.
THANK YOU! finally someone else realizes it too!
Now listen to me, before you all collectively lose your shit. It’s really sad that 3 people died because of this, and many more got their legs blown into bloody shreds. But let me tell you all something: Shit like this happens EVERY DAY, sometimes multiple times a day in Syria, Iraq, and at least half a dozen Sub-Saharan African countries.
The difference? Because this happened in ‘MURICA, all of a sudden everybody gives a shit and it’s the top story on every news channel. If this happened right now in Syria, for example, it would be relegated to a footnote at the end of the nightly news, if that.
The gross hypocrisy that the media and average people show by giving tragedies like this so much weight, while ignoring countries that we don’t care about because we don’t live in them is appalling.
And yes, I have the RIGHT to say what I just said because I live in America. This is my opinion on this situation. Yes, it sucks. Yes, people died. But suddenly it’s super-special because it happened HERE? I live in the state it happened in, and even I don’t give it that much weight.
Dunno, jihad bronies?
It is sad people can’t just respect the situation. The picture isn’t meant to be a politcal tool, it isn’t meant to be a “choose sides” thing, it is meant to support the people.
Besides… they might be from Boston and this means a lot to them, and they wanted to share it with their followers.
I agree.
Also the original post to this image on their Tumblr is a direct link to the Red Cross, so the The_Martian_Poet should feel silly for their hateful comment.
