(ahem) I THOUGHT DOUBLE RAINBOOM WAS PRETTY GOOD.
 
However, I do not think it was perfect. There are some legit criticisms to be made of it.
 
Zach should not have hyped it up as being “100% show-accurate”, because it definitely wasn’t. There were some issues with the animation that gave it away as a fan-project.
 
The voice acting, while reasonably good, suffered from variable mic quality. This is to be expected when you can’t get all your actors into the same studio (or even ensure all have pro-quality recording equipment). Kira sounded great, but everyone else didn’t.
 
A lot of people bashed the writing, comparing it to bad fanfic. Fuck them. The premise may have been insane, but at least it had a decent flow most of the time. The ending, though truncated, was a logical extension of what had been set up throughout. Were I to watch the episode again, I’m sure I could find some things to nitpick on the writing front, but so far the complaints seem way overblown.
 
And no I didn’t have any issues with all the shoutouts. For the most part, I didn’t think they upset the flow, and frankly they made me laugh, so fuck all y’all haters.
 
This is a college project done by students on little to no budget. Expecting perfection is just plain stupid. However if I were the prof grading it I’d give it a B of some sort, possibly C+. It’s not worthy of an A. If Lauren ever saw DR, I’m sure she’d nitpick the hell out of it.
 
Also, /mlp/ and FimFiction can go eat a bag of dicks.

Well to be fair, it was hyped as the equivalent to a real episode. It wasn’t, probably why it got so muck flak
 
Personally I liked it. It felt like a good comedy fan fic.

Well, at least people on both sides of the argument can agree on this. :P

I admit, “Double Rainboom” wasn’t perfect, it’s not something I’ll watch over, and over, and it felt more like a “parody” then a legit episode, but it wasn’t bad, and the animation was impressive. (I liked the 3D-ish effect of Applejack’s rotating sign. That seems pretty “true” to the show’s “Flash” style.)
