I for one am sure glad that Twilight Sparkle managed to find a way to reverse-engineer that Anti-Changeling Salve she asked for from Zecora in the Changeling Resistance Timeline to have it be adopted and implemented by the rest of Equestria, along with asking Thorax where exactly the Changeling Hive is located at and using all available resources to set up a Maginot Line on the edge of the Changeling Thrones’ anti-magic field of influence to create a kill-zone to prevent further Changeling incursions into Equestria; severing all forms of communication and troop deployment between Equestria and The Hive and to slowly starve out the Changelings that are paying dearly for Queen Chrysalis’ own hubris and will now seek to overthrow her through a violent and bloody revolution…

But if she was too arrogant to try to capture Starlight(pretty sure she would have known by now via her spies that Starlight is a powerful magic user), then she should have been too arrogant to consider Spike to be a threat.  
If she known that Spike was able to send messages via her spies telling her, they should have known about Starlight’s capable threat too(especially since her issues of what she done in the past kept being brought up)
 
The writers really goof things up for Spike big time..

Yeah, as far as I think, Chrysalis had no need to kidnap Spike, but consider this: He could have sent warnings to the other leaders like Rutherford and Ember, warned them of the threat, and had them mobilize their forces to storm Chrysalis’ hive, so in Chrysalis’ mind, he was still a threat that had to be subdued.

Problem is, Chrysalis was apparently too arrogant to try to capture Starlight from what I heard.  
By that logic, she shouldn’t have bothered with Spike either.

As if being stuck in a cocoon once before in A Canterlot Wedding was bad enough, now she’s stuck in one again along with the Mane Six, Spike, Luna, Cadence, Shining Armor, Discord, and Trixie this time around as part of the revenge Chrysalis wants for her previous defeat.
