The Manga started with a vigilante with two personalities, and ended with kids playing collectible card games while whining and screaming as if they were doing martial arts; that was worse than watching grass grow, so they had to add magical menaces and over-the-top traps to make it bearable.
And still kids watch the anime and read the manga.

I know, but in Japan Yu-Gi-Oh! R wasn’t part of the original manga series.
The part you talking of is only only one of the three parts, so the manga had a lot of the card game, just not in the early parts.
at least how america has it, its easy just to slip Yu-Gi-Oh! R inbetween Duelist and Millennium world

WRONG! In Japan the whole manga is one big thing, in the US it was cut into three part(Yu-Gi-Oh!, Yu-Gi-Oh!: Duelist, and Yu-Gi-Oh!: Millennium World).

Actually, the manga only featured Duel Monsters in ONE chapter. The manga is actually pretty fucking dark and good.
