Well, yeah actually. Dash was, while being smug, still a town hero. After being upstaged by Mare-Do-Well, ponies in town ceased to believe that Dash could be heroic or even helpful at all anymore. Also what’s worse is now that Dash has learned her lesson, Mare-Do-Well is no longer active. So to protect the innocent, and in the cover of darkness, she dawns the mask that had publicly shamed her numerous times. Because she is the hero that Ponyville needs, but not what it deserves.
