Mulberry checks first to see if she has all her possessions. She opens her saddlepurse and realizes in her escape she left Antione’s letters on the balcony of the flat. The only thing she has left of them is the waterproof wrapping, the string, and the map. She starts to tear up again, but then shakes her head hard.
She pushes the thoughts aside. She can lament their loss later.
Mulberry looks back out at the town, and then towards the fog wall. She walks back to the road, and follows it out of Mournthread. While she departs the mare contemplates some of the words she heard Antione say. Though most of his speech was strange the last thing he said was especially curious to the mare.
“Don’t let them take you alive!”
Who was Antione referring to when he said that? What were they doing? Where were they going to take her? Why?
A very short time later the fog retreats and… Reemerges back in Mournthread.
The mare tilts her head confused, but it’s pretty obvious what happened when she thinks on it. In her mental state she got herself turned around. She faces the fog wall again, exhales, and enters.
A few minutes later and she’s back at the same spot she walked into the fog from. She repeats this process twice more, making sure to keep her eye on the path the whole time but… Somehow, some way, she keeps getting turned back around. The coachpony did say that when people went in the fog they never came out. Is the fog itself causing it?
>Mulberry wonders just what she has gotten herself into.
She sighs, and removes the map from her purse again. Maybe she can find someone who can help? She knows for instance, that she spotted some people sitting outside the fishery dormitory. The mare also notices that there is a hotel on this map. She also figures that she could find a mayor or a public official in the town hall, so that may not be a bad place to visit.
