I don’t try to be edgy. I just draw what I feel… and I really do experience a lot of pain. I’m sorry if the piece comes off as edgy, but thank you for the compliment.

Great facial expression work. His face is the picture of misery, and those bloodshot eyes look like they’ve been weeping for hours. You can practically feel the pain wafting off of this poor little guy.
 
That plumage is also quite finely detailed. How long did that take you?

Words are all I can really use here, but I give you my word I do think so. ^^  
The internet can be a harsh place at times, Be it praise or criticism, you should always take others opnions with a grain of salt.  
This site is one huge melting pot of ideas and fantasies, not everyone is ever going to have the same tastes.
 
You don’t have to love what others have to say, but your artwork should be something that YOU above all else enjoy creating. ^^

I see a lot of artist’s works getting downvoted for no immediately apparent reason quite often.
 
It usually has to do with tags in my experience, whether the viewer simply downvotes any content they dislike rather than use their ability to filter such from their sight.
 
Other times I think it’s the focus of the image.
 
The images in your gallery that have low scores are mainly barely pony related, images that aren’t ponies rarely score well.
 
I’m not telling you what to draw, but people here tend to like cute things.

If someone is personally attacking you, which is what I believe you may be referring to when you say “ad hominem”, please report it.
 
But if you’re just referring to downvotes, don’t worry about them. We have more than a hundred thousand unique visitors each month, and even the most popular image on the site has nearly 300 downvotes.
 
You can’t please everyone. It’s best to not try. Instead focus on improving the things your upvoters like. Otherwise you end up making art to please the people who don’t like your art, instead of pleasing yourself, or the people who already like your work.
