Sometimes, the innocent suffer. The heart wants what it wants. And often that means breaking the heart of your current significant other. Leading them on when you do not want to be with them would be too cruel. Better to break it off with them than to stay with them because of some false sense of obligation, slowly growing to resent them over time while cheating on them behind their backs.

That said, this makes me more conflicted with the triangle between Spike, Starlight, and Lily. This is good stuff.
