your current filter.Well, we have comics, books, and the stage production in 2020, over a year after season 9 ends, so FiM’s generation is for sure not ending with the show.
And given how passionate DHX and Allspark have been about the show, it hopefully won’t be ending on a bad note!

We do get to revisit Cheese Sandwich in Season 9, though some people say the episode was a bit underwhelming. Scorpan gets a name-drop in “A Trivial Pursuit” (which could hint at an appearance related to Tirek), and Grogar is pretty much confirmed to appear at least one more time, along with the other remaining villains.
But other than that, I agree with your assessment.

It IS still a challenge to think of G4 as being more than the show, at least for me. I never got into the comics, books, or anything else…But, I’m happy to know we are not losing the mares we have grown to love over the last decade!

To be fair, according to Hasbro and Boulder Media, G4 is not over. We might actually see alot of the stuff we haven’t seen like returning characters, film tie-ins, and the long list of villains not featured.
Exactly, literally no end to the show if they choose to continue it. Full of pony power potential. :)

We got the 2021 movie, and according to Tara Strong, nothing is planned after that YET.
Obviously, we will get more Pony, but at the moment, TV shows are not profitable enough.
I personally expect a webseries.
The ending of this season is just totally from a business perspective, if it were up to creatives who run the show I’m sure they can still do more seasons if they desired. Heck look at the pony fandom, I’m still at awe with the creativity to the point this year will be the year I learn to draw ponies. XD

The world of Equestria is literally brimming with potential stories it’s amazing. That’s part of why I’ve been a fanboy for so long. XD /)
Just because “9 seasons fits nicely into 9 DVD boxes” shouldn’t be a reason to not make a 10th season.
Not to mention, there are so many loose ends in the show that you could literally make an entire season out of it.
Tara Strong just mentioned that Hasbro doesnt have anything after the 2021 movie just yet, either. Which means, at the moment, the future is a vast nebula!! We could get a whole Trixie spinoff!!
Wouldn’t that be nice. However, DVDs of each season already exist from Shout Factory, and Blu-ray boxes can be the same size as DVD boxes - though the trend seems to be putting Blu-ray discs in smaller boxes just for the sake of being different. And using less plastic, I guess.
