Actually, no. This show is very good at maintaining continuity. This has been true throughout the entirety of the series, especially in seasons 7-9 where they were constantly making continuity nods and callbacks to the previous seasons.

The staff working on the show were well aware of the show’s popularity at this point. As for the “didn’t plan ahead” line, that’s a load of bull, as the writers get together at the beginning of every season and plan ahead what they’re going to do and what the overall season-long story arc is going to be.

What kind of drama and backlash is this going to cause? I don’t see why anyone would argue about this scene as there’s nothing to argue about. There wasn’t any kind of controversy regarding “The Cutie Mark Chronicles” or “Where the Apple Lies”, at least none that I can recall. And, honestly, I don’t see anyone discussing or arguing about this scene ten years from now. (Again, because there’s nothing to argue about.) More than likely, when the show ends, there will be a few people who remain in the fandom, but there will be far more who go, “Well, that was fun while it lasted,” and then move on with their lives.

That would be true if the show didn’t have a dedicated team behind it and didn’t have someone in charge running the show who has been with the show from the beginning.

Soooo, yeah. Conspiracy theory.
Not so much a conspiracy theory as it is an attempt to make sense of a nonsensical situation. The shorthand version is, I reckon Granny Smith’s memory is in error given the glaring contradictions featured in the flashback. I.e. AJ being a blank flank despite being Season 9 Bloom’s age or Apple Bloom being a baby both when Granny Smith was young and old.
Apple Bloom being Applejack and Big Mac’s child? Yeah. It’s a conspiracy theory I don’t really care for either.
I don’t have to look at your pic to know it’s only a conspiracy theory, and it will only carry as much weight as any conspiracy does.
I’m pretty sure the show was supposed to only last for about 3 seasons. Combine that with the constant change in staff, then yeah, mistakes are bound to happen.

I really could care less about any controversy. I think these sort of flashbacks, while not completely accurate with each other, are still cute. (Funny enough, before I found out about this, I was drawing an image of Pear Butter being pregnant with Applebloom when Applejack was a foal. So even I made that mistake.)
Nor did they think about the huge dramas and backlashes this scene would create. Without even seeing how Season 9 ends, I can already foresee that this moment is forever going to be a pivotal point that bronies will continuously go back to and argue about for years to come.
I mean, look at all the controversy and headcanoning that was spawned from Cutie Mark Chronicles and Where The Apple Lies. Think where this discussion will be in ten years from now…

It’s almost like the writers didn’t start caring about continuity until it was just about near the end of the show’s lifespan.
Yes. There are a few continuity errors regarding these flashbacks which is a definate mistake on the people working on the show.
A plausible in-universe reason is that some of the memories were falsified. This does happen to real life memories and given Granny Smith’s age, it could be plausible.
Also, as for the point about Spoiled Milk, maybe she had Diamond Tiara out of wedlock? It happens.
