The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

I found myself pondering how to explain pony reproduction in a way that would be unlikely, at least, to make Ocellus go ‘ew’. I came up with this.

“First off, the male doesn’t contribute much to the whole process, at least physically. He has a special organ that allows him to supply his essence to the female without dying in the process. The female also has a special organ that allows her to host a grub without it consuming her. The grub takes in the essence and begins to grow; the female nurtures the grub, eating more than usual and supplying the excess to the grub. Once it’s grown sufficiently, the female expels the grub.

“It’s worth noting that ponies usually produce only one grub at a time, though sometimes they produce more. Because the male survives the process, though, they can reproduce repeatedly, and most do.”

Pretty soft for a Sony.
@Goddess Erosia
Your argument is valid, tho I tend to use the term crack ship when it’s a ship that’s more out there by fandom standards, like say shipping Twist and Chrysalis. :p

@FamusJamus
Thanks, now I’m trying to figure out how the hell Twist-alis could even work!

Well, I mean….. Yeah it is though.

As much as I like it I think that’d count as a crack ship because there’s no canon connection between the two characters like that, or even a semi-canon overtone or in-joke. Plus they’re both female so canon wise that’s an even harder standard to consider.

While of course the show would never be bold enough to really be serious about lesbian/gay shipping, we do know it’s at least /reasonable/ for the fans to presume some gay ships here and there, like Bonbon/Lyra and Rarijack are basically a running in-joke at this point especially if you consider the Equestria Girls shorts. So even if they’re not “canon” it’s not too far of a stretch to think about so neither of those are crack shipping. But Twilight and Chrysalis? Not only do they not have much direct interaction, they’re hostile towards each other. And not in a frenemy kind of way either.

If Twilight and Chrysalis had something more like what Twilight has with Trixie I can at least kind of see the plausible connection being a little closer, but since they’re not even friends then unfortunately it’s pretty crack shipping. It’s actually much more plausible (though far from canon) to do the poly-ship triangle between her and Cadence and Shining.
