WebMs have been an option for years now and this is the first time I am seeing this. Also, there is the Pony Archive, both for music, videos, and text, as well as programs I think.

If I were to guess; archiving. The site now allows for .webm to be uploaded which means there’s now a way to upload these old YTPs and PMVs in their entirety with sound.
