I don’t have photoshop, so the only thing I use to do minor edits in my work is GIMP. I also try to avoid “serious” edits (like smoothing out edges of the model) since it’s very hard to make such edit unnoticable.  
I’ll try out fogging eyes, but I never were a fan of it, as it always looked a bit “out op place” on SFM characters.
 
As for NSFW stuff, Im working one one right now.
 
Af for manes, on that pic I have already explained that I’m still not able to get a “good looking” effect while removing those. As much as getting golden brown on BJ would be easy, I dont think it would come out good on Calamity (since his normal coat color is rather dark).

As for critique or ways to improve it. I think the hind legs could use a bit work in photoshop to hide the way they clip inside the rups. Beside that i would dim/fog over the eyes a little when they are dead.
 
More i could tell when you get to the NSFW stuff. :P
 
Also about this version >>2015138 The color is a bit to dark. You could try making one with the eyes open but grey them out completely or if you plan on leaving them like this then at least maybe take away the manes and tails. It look strange when they are so much cooked. If they were golden roasted then you could keep their manes in normal color! :D

I had a Calamity and Glory roasting/NSFW comic in the works, but that was way before I learned doing “better lights”. I don’t know if it’s worth it tough. It was preety long.

Well, they just look kinda dead to me. Although I would like to see how they were actually spitted, perhaps a powerful unicorn put them in such positions and made them all blush before ramming the rod in.
