Yeah, they are her emails, but it wasn’t like a public gmail account. Her emails were reportedly accessed through DHX, which is backed up by the fact that it was DHX who responded to the leaks, rather than Hasbro or Meghan herself.  
DHX response was that the information of G5 was inaccurate, since their company had no access to any plans for MLP past S9.  
Note that they did not say the leaks were false, nor did they say the leaks didnt come from DHX. They just denied the G5 information.  
Makes sense, since any concept art, plot details, etc… would have been on servers either isolated to just Hasbro or used by Boulder Media, rather than any server able to accessed by or through DHX, a company they were no longer in business with.  
As well, the information on S8-9 was accurate, but once S9 is done, the leaks start to fall apart.  
The Boulder information was public knowledge, since Hasbro bought them in 2016 instead of renewing their contract with DHX. So, the leaks didnt leak that, it just mentions it.  
A movie in 2019 was never mentioned anywhere else, and the 2021 movie was mentioned by investors after a private meeting in late February/early March to be set in G4, rather than G5. The marketing for the movie is telling as well. Though the leaks say they have near finalized concept art, they instead made new art for G4 to market the movie to investors. Weird decision if a big selling point of the movie is that it launches a new generation and TV show. As well, while the leaks mentioned the reboot beginning in 2020, details show that there is a host of books, comics, toy lines, and possibly games set to release in 2020 instead.  
So, basically, the emails after a certain point say one thing while Hasbro’s business says another thing.  
So, at the moment, the most accurate source of information is the public information, which is that Boulder will be taking on the MLP TV content, their first bit of content is the RR special, and that they could very well be taking over season 3 of EQG. As well, Hasbro has promised to continue on with their pony stories through multiple media platforms, I think they mean tv, internet, and possibly streaming.  
I really wish the leaks about G5 were true, I love the redesigns personally, but things are just not lining up anymore.

DHX stated that they have no access to information about MLP past Season 9. Therfore, the leaks could not have gotten information from sources which do not exist.  
There are new books, comics, toy lines, and possibly EQG stuff through 2020, as confirmed by a variety of sources from IDW comics to toy stores to Investors meetings. Some of those investors also mentioned that the 2021 movie was about G4, which is backed up by the marketing for the movie, which is featuring Twilight and Spike, rather than a new generation or a generic MLP logo if they did not have the art. Also, if the leaks were legit, why not use the art? They obviously have it.  
As well, the 2021 movie was not mentioned to be a prequel for anything, an important fact you would want to mention to investors.  
Finally, even though FiM was confirmed as coming to a close, EQG’s staff was simply informed that DHX would no longer be working on EQG, which is in line with transition we have seen with Boulder. They have been working on EQG since the summertime shorts, and will likely be taking over EQG.  
As a last note, even though the information above has been confirmed by Hasbro, they have not confirmed G5’s existence at all.

None of that stuff happened aside from Hasbro saying the movie won’t be a sequel to the 2017 movie.

How?  
The source of the leaks denied them.  
There is G4 content confirmed through 2020 now.  
And Hasbro confirmed that the CGI movie will be about G4, though it wont be a sequel to the 2017 movie.

Eh, the leaks have her mane a bit longer. But the artwork in the leaks is close. Large wings, more vibrant colors. Pegasi are have a more sleek, birdlike design compared to G4.  
But, the leaks have not been confirmed by Hasbro, and DHX has come out and denied that the information about G5 is true.

Is this the design that they’re going for?

If G5 is real, the character DO look hella cute.  
More elegant designs, saturated colors, it’s like they took a look at our canary and decided they needed to step it up lol.
