The Doctor, Seven of Nine, and episodes where Janeway was written well were pretty much the only things that kept me watching Voyager. Those ECH moments were so awesome <3 .

Yep! I love that his response the the situation was basically to immediately open fire and knock out the enemy ship. No fucks given, indeed xD .

He also took up the ECH role in another episode where the crew got captured and mind-controlled to be workers in a factory.

Oh yeah, he became the ECH, Emergency Command Hologram, as I remember, twice in one episode. First in the holodeck (aliens were watching a live feed of him kicking ass), and then a second, where he was doing it “for realsies” against the same aliens, and was quite timid at first, when going up against them. I think his poker face & bluffing won the day…? Loved that episode.
 
Man, I wish I could remember exactly what happened IRL, but alas, it’s a little too far down the memory hole to retrieve at the moment. It had to do with Twitter, John deLancie might have been involved, but IIRC, Picardo gave some financial help to…dammit, I can’t remember…!
 
I can remember The Doctor taking control of Voyager, 20 years ago, but not something that happened in real life less than 10. :(

Totally, dude; Robert Picardo is all kinds of awesome. Do you remember the Emergency Captain Protocol scenes where he assumed command of the ship? So badass.
 
How’d he help the brony fandom, by the way? I’m not familiar with that story.

Agreed. Also there’s the aspect of Seven’s Borg nanoprobes; I like to think that even with an army of billions of the little buggers floating around Janeway’s system, they can only do so much to repair the despot’s self-destructive behavior.
 
Robert Picardo is an awesome human being, on top of being a fantastic actor. He’s helped our very own Pone fandom, if memory serves correctly.

Depending on the writer she could either be the best captain ever or the most inept science officer that should have never been promoted xD . A shame too, considering how great her actress was. Janeway definitely deserved better writing.

Nice! Yeah, that green laser dance-club lighting and random flashes are vital to the functioning of a Borg cube, too. For added effect, I could have a batshit-crazy-as-usual Captain Janeway trying to infiltrate the Zebra Collective by wearing a horse costume, with Harry Kim as the ass end (I mean, who else?!).
 
Oh man, I can almost hear her raspy, cigarette-smoker voice trying to imitate zebra/horse noises now…and it’s hilarious.

Take a zebra, throw in some mechanical prosthetics, replace one of the eyes with a flashing light, and make sure the background lighting is as ominous as possible.
