Was there ever an official translation of that cartoon? If no, then IMO both “Woof” and “Bow-wow” should be acceptable (but yeah, “Woof” definitely is better).
As for the cutlet, that’s artist’s fault, he probably saw it long time ago and mixed up the episode about eating sausage and the episode about hiding cutlet.
