No word on G5.  
Not even at a trademark expo.  
Meanwhile, a manga, live show, and books have all been confirmed for 2020, and are all G4.  
It looks like Hasbro is carrying on with G4, just without FiM. Or should I say, carrying on after FiM.

I can’t wait till G5 hits and I can slap the “harsher in hindsight” tag on this picture.

It really was. It’s been a great 10 years!! It is really healthy to take a moment and reflect back on this crazy, wonderful start to our fandom. The folks at DHX busted out everything they had to make sure MLP rose with our wacky group, and their talent, care for the community, and passion for FiM made MLP from a toy line for girls into not only a pillar in pop culture, but also a deep and meaningful show that helps alot of people. Really gonna miss them.

To be real with you, my other big fandom is the Destiny game series. Last year, we had leak after leak. We would be fighting heroes who fell into villainy, armies of rogue machines fighting for control over humanity, demons from the unknown reaches of space, a civil war that tears humanity in half, new loot rarity levels, new exotic weapons.  
All from legit sources, all supposedly well so real Bungie was trying to shut them down.  
Each and every single one was false. No idea how it happened, but it serves to make a poignant message. No matter the content of a leak, it isnt a leak until it is confirmed by the folks in charge. Until Hasbro announces G5, and shows us the leaked concept art, until they announce the end of G4, until Tara says she is done voicing Twiggly Wiggles, all the leaks are are just rumors.

Hasbro confirmed the movie is coming in 2021, not 2019, sadly.  
But at least it’s more development time.

Yeah.  
It’s still a franchise for kids, and while most kids own a console, almost every kid owns a smartphone. Plus, mobile games are getting to a point of having a good intersection of minimal financial investment, maximum profit, and starting to get some good talent. I’m looking forward to their upcoming games.

I heard that the movie is coming out in 2019, near the end of the year, and 2020 is when G5 airs. At keast, that’s what the leaked timeline shows.

Well, they said they’re looking forward to continuing MLP. They dont want to give up the recognition that MLP has, and they employ alot of really good storytellers who sure wont be sitting around for 2 years.  
I’d expect alot of weird content over the next two years. This is their window to see how they can develop what we love, and deepen their understanding of why people love FiM.

If the 2021 movie is G5 then it would seem that it would serve as an introductory to G5 and the G5 tv series would start after.

I sure hope there will really be all this content in the next few years. I don’t want to go on the worst hiatus from 2019 to 2021 when G5 starts…

The show is a separate project of MLP g4. Comics dont have voice acting, EQG is not part of the show, and the mobile games are still being voiced by them even though some are either being released close to the end of S9 or even getting content drops after S9.  
They are done voicing the characters for the show, and they did love it.  
But they also are still doing EQG. They aren’t done playing their characters in EQG. With that example, a new inter-generational series or period of content will be a separate project, and one they are not supposed to discuss until it is officially revealed.  
Plus, on a practical term, DHX is no longer the studio producing MLP content.  
Therefore, these voice actors and actresses are done recording there, and it IS emotional. They’ve been working with DHX for close to ten years.  
Now, woth the new studio, there will be new recording studios, a new team, and new environment.  
Sadly, some characters are confirmed to be saying goodbye. Big Mac and Celestia’s voice crew is my favorite example. But the show has already gone out of it’s way to show that Celestia IS stepping down during S9, and I’m guessing a similar story is in store for Big Mac.  
Finally, the voice actresses are not actually done recording. The Rainbow special coming out over the summer is not even close to being ready for voice acting, and so they will be recording sometime around late spring. This will be with the new studio who is producing the special, though this wont be their first time interacting with them. EQG Summer Shorts was done with the new studio to prepare them for taking over MLP’s animated content.  
Remember, until it is confirmed by Hasbro, it isnt fact. And so far, Hasbro has not been hinting toward the end of G4 YET. Even one of the DHX animators mentioned that they didnt know what Hasbro was doing after season 9, only that S9 was the end of DHX’s partnership with Hasbro.

I’m not getting my hopes up for more content after season 9 but if there was (like for example more shorts), it’s possible they would have already recorded their lines for it (and it will just take us a long time to see it).
