I don’t know about that. Though, they did have an IDW comic where Filthy Rich was running, and became mayor, (and screwed things up) which coincidentally came out around the time of the controversial presidential election between Hilary & Trump.  
Sooooo not very good timing for that kinda thing in a kid’s comic, as some fan drama came out of it. (Though, the makers of the comic stated it has nothing to do with the U.S. election.)

Tbf I think Filthy Rich is a reference to corporations/monopolies, like everything is becoming politicized now and I wouldn’t be surprised if Hasbro has jumped in on the shilling too

Truthfully. I never liked how they made Filthy Rich a jerk/villain in EqG, sense his pony counterpart has been shown to be a decent guy. They should’ve used a different character, or use Tiara’s Mom. I kinda liked the idea that Tiara has at least one nice parent to show where her hidden “nicer” side came from.  
She also seemed to be the only kid pony that respected him during “Family Appreciation Day,” (as the others found him boring, and were snoozing, and being kinda disrespectful, maybe that’s why Tiara wanted to embarrass Bloom. She was jealous the kids liked Granny better) so it was kinda cute to show Tiara genuinely cares about & respects her Dad, and kinda hinted Tiara isn’t all bad.
