“Prepare for descent.”
Submission for and the theme for this week, A pony going down; a pony descending!
In the journal describing this week’s theme, the computer game Descent was referred to. Being a long-time fan of the game, all I had to say to that was “challenge accepted.”
Actually, I quite likely would’ve thought to do the exact same thing independently anyway, so all that did was give me an excuse.
Used Scootaloo for no other reason than because Scootaloo seemed to fit best in my mind. I know, it doesn’t really make sense, but hey…it’s a pony in a Pyro-GX. I sure ain’t gonna complain to that.
If you are familiar with the game referenced here already (without having to click on above link), you just won some respect from yours truly.
If you aren’t familiar with this game…then you’ve been playing all the wrong games, dude.

Now I play overload, the successor of descent I and II. It’s the same feeling, but with updated graphics and VR compatible !
You gotta soften the reactor until it’s one hit away from exploding, then finish it with a guided missile from halfway across the level (use markers to keep doors open), then fly to the exit at leisure. On Descent 2 level 5 this is almost a required strategy, especially on higher difficulty levels.
Although it does look like she’s reached the part of the level where she’s ascending pretty darn quick.
Great game though - served all my childhood fixations on things going boom, and the genuine adrenaline rush each time you blew the reactor… That said, for me it wasn’t just “Self-destruction sequence: activated” it was for me “hysteria mode: engaged”.
Imagine if Return of the Jedi ended with the Falcon flying out of the exploding Death Star and all you could hear during the entire run was “SHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHIT!!!!!!!”
