In the heirarchy of command, the doctor always outranks sick princesses, especially if he has no bedside manner.(strong language because you know what’s hidden behind those pixels.)
Well so much for “restraining myself”. Yes, actually painting out the shading is a lot more work, but dang it, how can you possibly argue the results?? Anyway, important change: Balloons will no longer have unique colors for every character. I thought it was cute, but frankly it is a lot of time for something that is completely pointless, considering I can just make sure the balloons point more precisely to the characters that are supposed to be talking. More easily read, far less complicated. It’s a win-win!
With the change into the next chapter, I’ll finally be introducing Undertale characters. Anyone who thinks that’s a bad idea… get out while you’ve got the chance.
are you implying that undyne can be defeated at friendship??? she can beat anyone at being best friends, with one hand tied behind her back!
I do wonder what the doc was panicking about, when he heard that ponies would die without magic. seemed like magic overdose just got a lot more serious in his mind. maybe I’m just jumping to conclusions. guess I’ll have to wait and find out! good luck!
Hoomans are an extremely intelligent apex predator species… but sometimes the rely too much on their assumptions of how the world works. It also doesn’t help that ponies are not a major race in the federation.
Of course the monsters are like ponies– they value friendship! Except Undyne, she seems to have a little trouble with the concept.
I think it’s come and gone now, so I can safely say without a spoiler that the ponies are already going through magic overdose; that’s what magic-induced-growth-effect is. Keep in mind that in the story we only know through anecdote that magic is deadly in large quantities when injected into humans– beings who have determination, not magic, and therefore don’t really have the biological makeup to compensate for magic. (see >>1681477)
Slap me across the internet if I ever go down that slope of character introductions. Heck, I’d slap me.
Anywho, thanks for the feedback! I’m already going to try for the simpler drawings in the main pages, so there we go!
I gather that being that reliant on magic makes the consequences even worse, when it returns in orders of magnitude and starts overloading their bodies.
I think monsters in undertale are pretty much composed of magic themselves. magic, happy feelings and dust. so if you’re going to introduce them, they should be have a lot in common with ponies, under the hood at least. or maybe you have another interpretation entirely, which is fine too.
you’re not… you couldn’t possibly be thinking of having the overdose of magic in ponies cause amalgamation are you?
ponies are a fluid, after all…
be careful with massive crossover stories, they can degrade into nothing but introducing characters, which is boring to watch and to draw. but I think you know that, since you’ve left many of these characters wonderfully unintroduced, for us to figure out who they are progressively through the story. ♥
the shading is magnificent, but your real strength is in your pacing and characterization, so any shortcuts you can take that don’t degrade the art too much are no problem at all. most comic artists use their “lot more work” techniques on chapter title illustrations, then they let our imaginations add in those details in the comic itself. your choice of course, I’m with you either way.
