That is my reaction to both Cracked and the colossal trainwreck that is Equestria Girls.

I’m not going to dispute most of this, but the part about her being driven out of town. Doesn’t really happen in modern type cities like Canterlot. She would have been arrested though.

When you think about it, even Sunsets role as a villain is not very convincing.
 
When she transforms into a demon, her plan is to use a bunch of (zombiefied) teenagers from a highschool to conquer Equestria. I dunno man, a bunch of teenagers vs a world full of unicorns, pegasi, three alicorns and even a bunch of villains like Discord and Chrysalis.
 
Her redemption is also questionable. She starts to cry and the principal simply orders her to repair a wall…  
After all she did, including the fact that she turned into an actual demon… that’s her punishment!? Oh, you turned into a demon and tried to enslave us all and invade another world, did you? Grab that cement and fix that wall! You deserve this! Naughty!
 
All the other villains in MLP are convincing: Discord is chaotic and hard to restrain or control, Sombra is pretty much the Hitler if the pony world, Chrysalis is motivated by her own evil nature to consume love and happiness. Heck, even Cozy Glow is a better villain than Sunset. Cozy is like the flip side of the friendship coin, she realizes she can use friendship as a tool/weapon to control others and is a great manipulator.
 
Starlight Glimmer seems more convincing as a reformed villain, because they summed up her story and explained her very well. She lost a friend at an early age, didn’t know what to do and basically formed her own cult like group under the guise of equality. It even takes the destruction of Equestria in a future timeline to convince her to change! Brilliant!
 
Sunsets whole character seems rushed and contrived to fit a plot.
 
Her being ostracized later on is probably the only good part of the whole story. But even that falls through. They wouldn’t have ostracized her, they would have driven her out of town. She should have wandered around like Trixie, and changed along the way.

I think Sunset Shimmer could have been a bit better. She was reformed too quickly.
 
They should have made it more progressive and slow like they did with Discord.

too bad the Rainbooms didn’t think of putting out an exemplary album; instead, they chose to belt out several mediocre singles. :/

Yes, which means I could have liked it more, but that is not what you asked. You asked how I would make it good, implying that I didn’t think it was, even though I said I liked it. Please be more careful with your wording.
 

 
That doesn’t make sense. I like it, which means I think it is good, so it makes no sense for me to “make it good”, because I already think it is good. Other people’s opinions are just that, their opinions, and they are not relevant to this discussion. As for how I would improve the film, I don’t know, and I don’t care enough right now.

Hence the question about how can you fix the film for critics and audiences to make it good. I’m not implying that you didn’t like the film.

That is irrelevant. My point was that critics should not praise a move just because it’s faithful, and should only praise movies they think are good.

That’s not a good reason to praise a film. Being faithful to one’s source material does not automatically make a movie good. You and I both enjoy the move, but that doesn’t mean that other people have to, and I’m willing to admit that the movie could have been a lot better.

Is just that I thought he has an expectation for the MLP movie to be a slice-of-life comedy based on what he thought the series was. But he’s a critic anyway. Although I don’t hate him anymore after his video talking about his online harrasment.
 
I still think critics should realize the MLP movie is faithful to the source material.

People have different opinions. You can disagree with other people’s opinions, and you can explain why you disagree, but you shouldn’t get offended over other people having a different opinion from you. You like it, and he doesn’t, and you have to accept that.

I cared because I did like the movie, I love cliches and it is faithful to the source material rather than smurf it all up (as in making a live-action animated movie that might depart from the source material) like The Smurfs or Alvin and the Chipmunks, is that so bad?

You didn’t answer my first question, and that is a perfectly valid reason to dislike the film, even if I disagree with it. The reason why I said that I didn’t think you understood his reasons was that you implied that he expected the film to be an action-fantasy film, a point which makes no sense as that is exactly what it is. If that is not what you meant, then you were very unclear about what you meant.

I like how some people have tagged this with ‘lies’, ‘false’, ‘shitposting’ and wrong,even though there is a hint of truth to it all.
 
EQG and RRocks definitely have problems. I remember what the reaction was when they first came out, fans were outraged. Not everyone, but a lot of people didn’t like EQG. Now people have grown to like it.
 
But I think the real reason the creators made EQG, is because they were worried about bronies tarnishing their works reputation with cartoon bestiality! That’s why they shifted to cartoon humans instead, that way it’s all relative and at least partially acceptable. It also creates a safer fanbase for young girls that is popular and relatable,while satisfying bronies at the same time.
